Burj Dubai is world’s tallest

July 23, 2007 · 6 Comments

burj dubai when completedBurj Dubai is aiming to be 300 meters taller than Taipei 101, the world’s tallest building today. Thanks to the frantically fast construction speed, yesterday it officially overtook Taiwan’s skyscraper reaching 512.1 meters (1,680 feet).

It is now totalling 141 completed floors and still has a long way to go. However, the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, like most standard bodies will not recognize or award its world-record height just yet -  until it is completed.

The finished height of Burj Dubai is kept as a secret and will not be told until it is complete.

My husband read this in the newspaper the other day and I thought of you over there! I’m pretty conservative on the height thing - so good for them, but there’s no way I’ll be making a trip up.
